Balance held through the overnight auction

ETH opened Sunday afternoon and continued to organize around Friday’s 7775.00 VPOC. Multiple attempts below Friday’s value-area low produced probes rather than acceptance: sellers could extend beyond the boundary, but they could not sustain trade there or attract the volume needed to begin a lower auction. Price repeatedly returned toward Friday’s value center, preserving the balanced and mean-reverting cadence into RTH.

The regular session opened inside that established structure and compressed into a narrow coil during its first half hour. That opening behavior kept the immediate question focused on whether either side could convert an overnight probe into accepted RTH value.

The ISM release coincided with initiative discovery

The 07:00 PT ISM Services release supplied the timing catalyst for the break. The headline PMI registered 54.9, nearly matching expectations and remaining in expansion territory. Employment returned above the expansion threshold at 50.1, while Prices Paid increased to 74.0. The release is best treated as the event that coincided with the transition out of the coil; the auction itself confirmed direction through sustained trade and continued value migration afterward.

Buyers pushed into Friday’s potential LAAF and prior-session-high area. That confluence produced an initial response and counter-rotation, but sellers could not return price to the earlier balance. Continued two-sided trade around the zone migrated VPOC to 7807.75, showing that executed volume was building at a materially higher location.

The auction entered the northern composite distribution

Once buyers established acceptance above Friday’s upper references, price traversed the 7813–7819 composite low-volume area quickly. That response was consistent with the thin structure visible between the distribution below and the higher composite node: limited prior agreement allowed price to move efficiently until it reached an area where the market had previously conducted more business.

The advance covered the September 22 nVPOC at 7832.00 and continued through the 7832–7842 northern composite HVN. This is the highest major composite distribution presently visible on the supplied chart, immediately beneath less-developed territory. Price swept 7847.50, where the active Siege Control level and potential LAAF overlap, before reverting toward the covered nVPOC.

The late response moved through 7832.00 and tested slightly lower value. The final RTH VPOC migrated to 7824.00. That final migration leaves an elongated profile: Monday achieved substantial upward discovery, but the close still requires the next auction to determine whether the upper extreme can become accepted value or must be repaired.

Upside requires acceptance above Siege Control

The nearest upside decision is 7847.50, where Monday’s high overlaps the active Siege Control zone and potential LAAF. If buyers reclaim that level and sustain trade above it, the auction exits the northern edge of the highest recently traded composite distribution. That would place 7871.25 first, followed by the 7886.75 single print and 7900. Acceptance beyond those references would bring liquidity preceding all-time-high territory into focus.

If that acceptance does not develop, rejection from 7847.50 keeps the auction inside Monday’s profile. A return through the covered 7832.00 nVPOC would place the final 7824.00 RTH VPOC back under pressure.

Downside begins with repair below the final VPOC

If sellers establish acceptance below 7824.00, assess the 7805–7800 composite HVN. That node represents prior agreement inside the distribution Monday crossed during its advance and is the nearest material area where lower prices may again attract two-sided business.

Below that node, 7796 is a low-volume seam shared by the broader composite and Monday’s RTH profile. Acceptance through it exposes poor structure and the 7791.50 single print. Continued acceptance lower would then reopen the 7775.00–7771.50 multi-time-frame VPOC cluster that organized the prior balance. Monday’s RTH low and the potential LBAF define the lower boundary of that extended mean-reversion path.

If sellers cannot sustain trade below 7824.00, rejection from the lower references favors rotation back through the covered 7832.00 nVPOC and another test of 7847.50.

Auction condition

Monday confirmed daily one-time-framing up while weekly and monthly balance remain developing. Buyers converted repeated lower rejection into initiative discovery, traversed a known low-volume corridor and reached the northern edge of the highest recently traded composite distribution. The next directional information comes from acceptance outside 7824.00–7847.50: above it, price can explore less-developed territory; below it, the market begins repairing Monday’s elongated profile toward established value.
